Leaf fat is a soft fat that comes from around the kidneys of the pig. It is considered to be the best fat on the pig and is usually rendered into lard that is the base of biscuits, pie crusts and even cookies.
The small package contains approximately 1.5 – 2.5 lbs. per package.
The large package contains approximately 2.75 – 3.75 lbs. per package.
Our pigs are raised in the woods on our homestead where they enjoy rooting for insects, roots and acorns. They have wallows for playtime and to cool down and shade to rest in. They receive scratches behind their ears and are told daily what good pigs they are. I treat them like pets and they are the most spoiled pigs you will ever meet. They are fed only non-GMO feed and live a life that allows them to “express their pigness” as Joel Salatin would say.
